Much of the most exciting and cutting-edge literary and cultural theory and criticism being written today has come from Latin America, and is thus largely published in Spanish.
The vast majority of this work unfortunately remains unavailable to English language readers.
I have decided to address this dearth of Latin American theory in translation by seeking out opportunities to use my unique capabilities as a bilingual scholar of Latin American and Hispanophone literature and culture. Since 2015, I have translated six books of Latin American theory, criticism, and philosophy, as well as two chapters in an edited collection (see below for more details). You can read an excerpt of my translation work here.
Through my academic training in and experience working with both Latin American literature and contemporary theory and philosophy, I have developed a particular attunement to contemporary issues in Latin American thought as well as questions that have preoccupied the field in the past. My commitment to Latin American literature and culture drives the high quality of my translations and promotion of Latin American thought in English scholastic communities.
