“A beginning is a very delicate time.”

Avoid languishing in the vastness of your project and work with confidence from the first draft.

Academic writing coaching draws on Andrew’s many years of experience as a teacher of writing to help you with a host of issues that may be preventing you from reaching your writing goals. Among other approaches, this can involve developing or enhancing the structural or theoretical framework of your text, expanding the scope of your writing to open it to a broader audience, modifying or giving better definition to your research agenda, or generally enhancing your writerly voice and style.

Developmental editing can begin either before or during the production of a publishable manuscript. In this phase, we offer support via significant interventions into the text’s structure and content. Southwest Humanities has supported the transformation of a text for a new audience, ghostwritten content and developed material for academic and professional writers in fields ranging from 19th-century British literature and colonial Latin American philosophy to Afro-Brazilian media studies and contemporary knowledge management practices.

Content editing involves delving further into the writing process to address the overall style, format, and content of a manuscript. In this phase, we can help you revise and restructure your manuscript to best fit your ideas to the specifications required by publishers. Content editing can hew closer to developmental or copy editing, depending on the needs of the text.
