Arlene Dávila and Yasmin Ramirez, eds., Nuyorican and Diasporican Visual Art: A Critical Anthology (Duke University Press, 2025)

The second book to be published in 2025 that has been indexed by Southwest Humanities is also the second in a number of books on art, art history, and visual culture that will also be published later this year. Nuyorican and Diasporican Visual Art: A Critical Anthology, edited by Arlene Dávila and Yasmin Ramirez (Duke University Press, 2025), offers a critical overview of Puerto Rican art in the United States over the last fifty years. Covering the emergence and innovations of the Nuyorican art movement, this collection of essays also explores diasporic Puerto Rican movements and artists in other US cities, including Chicago, Philadelphia, and Orlando. This volume will be essential for scholars working on contemporary art, Puerto Rican studies, diaspora studies, and criticism and theory.
